    Over the fall and winter of 2014-2015, a collection of Byzantine icons, jewelry, and sculpture will travel from Greece to Chicago for a special exhibition. This exhibit will feature many objects that have never traveled outside of Greece. Art historian Dr. Michelle Paluch-Mishur presents a slide lecture about artwork produced during a thousand years of Byzantine history.

    The music of J.S. Bach and the art of M.C. Escher were both created using what Douglas Hofstadter calls formal systems. Dr. Larry Van Oyen and Dr. Rich Wilders of North Central College will introduce the idea of formal systems in math and then show how the same ideas can be used to create music and art.
