Earth 911
A rich, authoritative site with information on where to recycle everything from used motor oil to paint to BATTERIES in your neighborhood, plus consuming products responsibly. Just click "Recycling Search" at the top right and enter your location and the item you want to recycle (or call 1-800-CLEANUP).

Freecycle
A large nonprofit network of groups which consists of people giving and getting free materials (from furniture to appliances and electronics). Emphasizes reusing and keeping those items out of landfills. Local coverage.

Greener Gadgets
Provides information on living and buying green. It includes a calculator for determining your energy use and a way to search for recycling centers by zipcode.

Recycle Bank
Offers a points system for recycling, which you can then use for discounts and merchandise. The site boasts more than 2 million users.

Metropolitan Family Services

Provides and advocates for quality, affordable housing for low-income persons in DuPage County.

DuPage Housing Authority
The DuPage Housing Authority provides rental assistance vouchers through a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Housing Choice Vouchers allow income eligible families and individuals, elderly persons and persons with disabilities to live in decent affordable rental units.

DuPage Shared Housing and Housing Assistance
