AARP Tax-Aide, a free service to taxpayers with middle and low incomes, will be available in the library starting in February. AARP volunteers will be in the library on Mondays and Fridays through mid-April. Appointments can be made for 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, and 12:00. College of DuPage Students Can Do Your Taxes
Accounting students at the College of Dupage, supervised by faculty, will electronically prepare state and federal tax returns for free. This service is available to students, employees, and the local community.
WHERE: College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137, Room: BIC 1640 and BIC 1644.
Students in Accounting 2200, under the supervision of the instructors, will prepare forms 1040 IL, 1040 and Schedules A-B. They will also handle Schedule C-EZ and small schedule Ds (3items or less.)
Participants must bring their previous year’s tax returns, as well as their current-year tax information and records. For more information, call 630/942-3400.

Circuit Breaker Replaced by Benefit Access
The Illinois Circuit Breaker form has been replaced by a program called Benefit Access. Changes include the termination of Illinois Care RX and Circuit Breaker Property Tax Relief. Senior Free Transit and the License Plate discount are still available online as Benefit Access.
Hanna Benioff of Downers Grove Township will help people fill out this application. People must make an appointment by calling 630-719-6682. She only works Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Senior Homestead Exemption is still available through Downers Grove Township.

The Free File program provides free federal income tax preparation and electronic filing for eligible taxpayers through a partnership between the Internal Revenue Service and the Free File Alliance LLC, a group of private sector tax software companies. Many companies offer free or paid state tax preparation and e-filing services. Some companies may not offer state tax preparation and e-file services for all states.
