Assistant Circulation Supervisor

The Indian Prairie Library is seeking a part-time Assistant Circulation Supervisor. If you love working with people, consider joining our team! Job duties include coaching and training staff, assisting in overseeing of the work flow in the department, providing friendly, responsive and knowledgeable customer service, resolving questions regarding circulation policies and procedures, issuing library cards, checking items in and out, phone coverage and more. The schedule is Monday 5pm-9pm, Friday 5pm-9pm and every other weekend. The salary is $14.66 per hour.

Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, a friendly manner, a sense of humor and be able to work as part of a team. They must have practical knowledge of Word and Excel. Other requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent and two year’s work experience in a public library which includes direct public contact where customer problem solving was required. Knowledge of SWAN and MilCirc a plus.

Part-Time Youth Services Associate

Indian Prairie Public Library is looking for a creative and enthusiastic person to join our Youth Services team. If you love to help others, if you enjoy learning, creating, reading, and playing – especially with kids - then Indian Prairie Public Library has an opportunity for you.

The person selected to fill our Youth Services Associate position will work with librarians to create and present traditional, virtual, and cutting edge services for kids from birth through grade 6. Responsibilities include reference, readers/media advisory services, technology services, programming, displays, and school tours. Programming may include storytimes for all ages and hands-on maker/STEM classes. Other tasks may involve coordinating activities and supplies in our makerspace called the WouldShop.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience working with youth. Applicants must be comfortable working with the public and helping youth of all ages and their caregivers. They must also have a genuine interest in youth services and literature. Applicants must have excellent communication and collaborative skills, a commitment to quality customer service, and sense of humor. Students working towards an MLS are encouraged to apply.

The salary is $14.66/hour. The position works 18 hours/week including days, evenings and weekends.

Circulation Services Page

The Indian Prairie Public Library is seeking a part-time Circulation Services Page. If you love working with people consider joining our team. Job duties include checking in materials, sorting materials for shelving, loading and moving book carts and return bins, shelving materials, and possibly answering patron direction questions.

The library is looking for people with enthusiasm and ideas. We offer a dynamic, engaging team environment that values initiative and each individual. Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, a friendly manner and a sense of humor. Other requirements include:

• Ability to arrange items in alphabetical and numerical order (test required).
• Ability to learn check-in procedures.
• Practical knowledge of computers.
• Must have excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to move loaded book cards and bins and to lift and shelve library materials as required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with public and staff in English, both oral and written.

This position averages 12-16 hours per week –Monday 5-9 p.m., Thursday 9-1 p.m., Saturday 1-5 p.m., and some Sundays 12:30-5 p.m. The salary is $8.99 per hour. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.
