The library is currently seeking volunteers to help train and assist others with their technology, software and device questions.

Description:  We are looking for people-oriented and friendly volunteers.  Volunteers should have a passion for technology and possess basic computer skills. We need volunteers who would like to work as part of a team and be interested in learning additional skills.

Volunteers can help in a variety of ways including

  • assisting patrons in hands-on computer classes: help patrons follow the instructor’s directions and guide them as they use a computer
  • participating in device or downloading classes: help patrons with tablets or iPads under the guidance of a library staff member
  • participating in one-to-one tutoring with patrons who have completed a library computer class
  • helping with computer class tasks: make phone calls or copy class handouts

Time commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours each month assisting in a computer class.

Volunteers who have more time, interest or expertise are welcome to give additional time as needed to help with one-on-one tutoring.

Experience as an instructor or tutor is ideal, but not required.

Please note:  Applicant must be at least 16 years of age. Younger teens can find volunteer opportunities through IPPL’s Kids & Teens department.

We welcome your interest in becoming a Tech Tutor. To apply please complete a

Tech Tutor volunteer application (available online or at the lobby Checkout Desk).
